Karnataka launches 6 month Fully Funded VLSI Certification Programme

Introduction:

In a significant move to bolster the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector, Karnataka’s IT minister, Priyank Kharge, recently inaugurated the state’s pioneering VLSI (Very Large-Scale Integration) design certification programme at the Bengaluru Tech Summit.

Developed in collaboration with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) and the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), the initiative aims to enhance skilled talent in the field of VLSI design and verification.

VLSI Certification Programme Overview:

The K-VLSI program provides an advanced certification in VLSI design and verification, crucial for Electronics Systems Design and Manufacturing.

SFAL partners with IIIT Bangalore’s Center of Excellence for Machine Intelligence to implement the program.

FutureWiz, the industry training partner, ensures students gain a strong understanding of VLSI design principles and practices through comprehensive training.

VLSI Certification Programme :Selection and Funding

The program’s inaugural cohort consists of 60 students, meticulously chosen from a pool of 2,000 applicants. These students will undergo an intensive and fully funded six-month course, culminating in a valuable certification.

This strategic approach ensures that the participants are well-prepared and equipped with the necessary skills to contribute to the VLSI design sector from the very first day of their employment.

Significance for Karnataka’s ESDM Sector:

The ESDM sector in Karnataka has experienced substantial growth, with numerous semiconductor industries thriving in the state.

However, a pressing challenge for the industry has been the scarcity of skilled resources.
