Course Objectives and Scope
The course aims to provide advanced training in semiconductor process integration, catering to both BTech and MTech students.
Leveraging the state-of-the-art Coventor® SEMulator3D platform, the program offers a “near-hands-on” learning experience.
The ultimate goal is to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to contribute effectively to the Indian Semiconductor Mission.
Initially launched as a pilot program at CeNSE, IISc, the course will soon extend its reach to other educational institutions across India.
Curriculum Highlights
The curriculum of the course is designed to cover the entire spectrum of semiconductor fabrication technology, focusing on the 14 nm logic technology.
Through a series of 12 assignments, students will dive into various critical aspects of semiconductor manufacturing, including shallow trench isolation, the replacement metal gate, and the Damascene process.
The program also delves into the effects of topology, particle contamination, and other processing challenges that impact scaling.
Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how these challenges influence the semiconductor industry and will also be introduced to root cause analysis techniques.
2 faculty members being trained
One of the most ambitious aspects of this collaboration is the plan to scale the program to reach a staggering 60,000 students.
Lam Research and CeNSE, IISc, are actively seeking partners to help achieve this monumental goal.
The strategy involves training up to two faculty members from willing educational institutions, enabling them to integrate the course into their BTech and MTech curricula.
The objective is to train around 20 faculty members from 10 institutions every semester, eventually partnering with approximately 140 institutions over the next decade.
