Soitec introduced its advanced SmartSiCTM technology at a newly opened plant in France, focusing on EV. This event was a significant milestone in the semiconductor industry. Revolutionizing Vehicle Electrification with SmartSiCTM

This groundbreaking technology, based on silicon carbide (SiC), revolutionizes energy conversion systems by boosting efficiency. SmartSiCTM, with its lower energy losses, exceptional thermal management, and increased power density, can significantly enhance the range and performance of EV.

An essential aspect of this innovation is SmartCutTM technology, allowing each SiC substrate to be reused up to 10 times. This capability empowers EV with ranges surpassing 500 km, substantial improvement to the 350 km average of vehicles using silicon IGBT alternatives. Additionally, this technology achieves a remarkable 70% reduction in CO2 emissions during wafer manufacturing compared to traditional monocrystalline SiC substrates.
