The Dholera semiconductor fab
The company’s $11 billion investment to build India’s first indigenous AI-Enabled Semiconductor Fab in Dholera, Gujarat, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 13th.
This venture is a joint collaboration with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (PSMC) which is one of Taiwan’s leading pure-play foundry companies with capabilities across logic and memory technologies.
Requirements from prospective applicants
The company is looking for professionals with 5 to 16 years of experience in various roles (discussed below).
Successful candidates will undergo 18 months of initial training in Taiwan and must be willing to relocate to India.
Roles open for Taiwanese nationals
Module/Equipment Engineer
- Lead design review, tool installation, hardware modification, and upgrade of semiconductor equipment.
- Expertise in lithography, advanced patterning, etch, planar/thin films/deposition, diffusion & CMP, and semiconductor equipment control.
- Develop new or modified process formulations and define processing or handling equipment requirements.
- Review processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacturing, fabrication, and evaluation of semiconductors.
- Support process development, characterization, and optimization on foundry silicon technologies.
- Own design/yield/performance issues on customer content and drive for solutions through collaboration with development teams.
- Recommend, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to enhance production efficiencies and yield.
- Drive yield improvement activities by analysing failing electrical parameters and performing effective data mining to find the root cause.
Industrial Engineer/Ramp Engineering
- Plan plant, production facilities, and equipment layouts to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow.
- Develop metrics to measure equipment and factory capacity and output, and to identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks.
Automation Engineer
- Design and develop intelligent manufacturing solutions for factory automation, manufacturing scheduling, and dispatching.
- Heterogeneous data integration and corresponding solution design and development.
Equipment Technician (for diploma holders)
- Perform electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in nonfunctioning equipment used in the manufacturing process.
- Dismantle, adjust, repair, and install/assemble equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals.

Chips manufactured by Dholera Plant
The new semiconductor Fab will manufacture chips for applications such as power management IC, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCU) and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand in markets such as automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communication and artificial intelligence.
